Eight soldiers feared killed in bomb blast in Maiduguri

About eight soldiers and other civilians have been reported killed in another bomb blast in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. The suicide bomber was said to have targeted a military checkpoint near the Maimalari Military barracks along Baga road west of the metropolis after passing through other check point from Baga town. Boko Haram insurgents have continued a sustained suicide attacks on Maiduguri since President Mohammadu Buhari was sworn in on May 29, with no day passing by without an attack on the troubled city. Abdullahi Sabo who resides around Baga road told our correspondent that he heard a deafening sound like a heavy thunder storm at about 5:20pm. ” I later learnt that it occurred at a major checkpoint that lead to Brigadier Maimalari barracks along Baga road,” Sabo said. Bauchi gov freezes govt accounts, slashes own salary

The Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, has directed that all the state government accounts be frozen. Abubakar has also reduced his salary and that of his deputy by 50 per cent.%. The governor, who stated this on Monday in his maiden statewide broadcast to the people of Bauchi, pronounced the dissolution of boards of government parastatals, except those of statutory organs. Abubakar added, “Let me use this opportunity to announce that all government accounts in every bank are hereby frozen. NDLEA applies for Buruji’s extradition to US

Add caption The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said on Tuesday that it has served notice of application for extradition of Senator – elect, Kashamu Buruji, to United States. The spokesman of NDLEA, Mr Mitchel Ofoyeju, said the notice of the suit was officially served on Kashamu Monday. He said the application was secured through the Chief Judge, Federal High Court, Abuja, in a suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/479/2015.
