Jonathan’s acceptance of defeat averted crisis, says Buhari

President-elect, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari The President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, has commended President Goodluck Jonathan, for conceding defeat at the March 28 presidential election. The News Agency of Nigeria reported that Buhari gave the commendation in Abuja on Thursday when he received Nigerien President Issoufou Mahamadou on Thursday. He said Jonathan’s action turned around Nigeria’s nervous political process. He said, “The Nigerien president purposely came to congratulate me on my victory and President Goodluck Jonathan for the maturity and statesmanship that he exhibited by accepting that he had lost the election. “His (Jonathan’s) action actually doused tensions and averted crisis in Nigeria. “Not only Africa but the world has commended the President for that because if he had disputed the election, there would have been crisis in the country. “That is what people don’t want, not only Nigerians but other countries. Crisis: Fayose imposes curfew on Ekiti

Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has imposed a curfew on Ado Ekiti to prevent the raging fight between transport workers and Hausa traders from spreading to other parts of the state. The governor, while addressing the Hausa Community at Atikankan area of Ado Ekiti, said the curfew, which started on Thursday, would be on between 6pm and 6am daily. Fayose also ordered security agents to arrest whoever failed to comply with the order. The governor, who appealed to the Hausa community to be patient, promised that they would get justice. “You said you love me, this is the time you have to show this love. I want to plead with you to submit whatever lethal weapon you have in your possession to the police. We've got used to think that Russian production factories are, as a rule, half-destroyed buildings with leaking roofs and crooked staircases ending at the ceiling. However, the aircraft construction factory where they produce Sukhoi Superjets 100 in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, is a sufficient refutation of the charge. About 12,000 people work at the two departments of the factory. In the first one they make the fuselage, and in the other one they install electronics, engines, etc. Let's see how they turn a piece of aluminium into a plane. ▶ Moscow sends electronic models of planes to the factory, which later has to produce them. By the way, the Sukhoi Superjet was the first to have been produced in this way.
