On Thursday, 17th April 2015, members of the Management team of Ekiti State University, EKSU led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oladipo Aina waited for the arrival of the Visitor to the University, His Excellency, Dr Ayodele Fayose.
The Management team had earlier received the notice of an emergency visit of the Governor, which was his first since he became Governor in a popular electoral victory which marked his second coming as Ekiti State Governor.
The Governor and his entourage arrived for what the Governor described as a private assessment of developmental work in the University ten years after he attended his last official ceremony at EKSU as the Visitor to the University.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oladipo Aina and the EKSU team received the visitor at the University gate and the tour of projects both completed and ongoing started from the college of medicine.
Professor Oladipo Aina who performed the function of the Tour Guide informed the Governor that his administration completed the multi million naira medical library which has been described as the best in West Africa, Vice-Chancellor added that accreditation teams from the NUC and the Medical Dental Council of Nigeria were impressed with the infrastructural facilities on ground at the College of Medicine including the medical students Hostel, Laboratories and Departmental buildings.
The Governor’s entourage moved on to the newly constructed school of Postgraduate Studies, the ongoing reconstruction of the University Library, the ongoing construction of Faculty of Management Sciences, Faculties of Science and Social Sciences. Governor Fayose stopped and inspected construction works as well as shared suggestions with the contractors on site.
The Visitor commended the masterful architectural work at the new Faculty of Education, Entrepreneurship Centre and the ongoing construction of the multimillion naira students hostel which is a Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) arrangement. The Vice-Chancellor pointed out the beautiful students union building donated by an Alumnus of the University, Hon. Kingsley Kuku who is the Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Amnesty. The tour of the projects spread afforded the Visitor a rare opportunity to witness the unprecedented developmental achievements recorded in three and a half years leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oladipo Aina who had operated an open door and vision driven administration.
The Governor in his remarks, commended Prof. Aina led management team for its prudent management of resources adding that he was impressed with the remarkable growth in less than four years of leadership in EKSU.
Governor Fayose assured the University community that he would constitute a new Governing Council for the Institution soon.
